Weddings can get pricey.
In 2023, the average cost of a wedding in Spokane, Washington was $35,000 with a median cost of $20,110.
The largest expense is typically your venue and as a wedding photographer I go to a LOT of venues in the area, here are a few of my favorites and their starting prices for a wedding;

There are also lots of little things that don’t get accounted for when you start researching wedding costs and what to budget for. So it’s not surprising to hear that when you really sit down and add everything up you end up going over budget.
When you sit down to put together your ideal budget for your wedding don’t forget to factor in the items listed below!
Unexpected Wedding Expenses
- Stamps
- Outfits for an engagement party, engagement photos, rehearsal dinner, bachelorette/bachelor parties, honeymoon
- Hair and makeup trials
- Wedding stationery – programs, menus, signs used on the wedding day
- Tips for your vendors (100% optional, but it’s nice to budget for if you can)
- Meals for your vendors (please feed me, I love food)
- Marriage License
- Breakfast and Lunch for the wedding day
- Gifts for the Parents
- Gifts for your bridal party
One way my husband and I combatted not having the funds for an unexpected expense was having a specific wedding bank account where we were able to stash extra money we saved.
