Throughout my 7 years as a Wedding Photographer I’ve learned a thing or two that I wish I would have known when I was planning my wedding. If you’d like to learn tips & tricks, see real weddings, and sessions then this blog is for you! I hope this can be a tool for all my couples and anyone searching for wedding inspiration.
As a North Idaho wedding photographer, I’ve seen my fair share of unforgettable wedding days — and Jojo & Jacob’s June 21, 2025 celebration at Camp Twinlow in Rathdrum was one for the books. The day brought a mix of sunshine and soft rain showers. These weather conditions come and go, adding sparkle to the lake and laughter to the air. The weather never slowed the joy. If anything, it made the day even more memorable as friends and family celebrated without missing a beat.
From the second I arrived, the day was buzzing with excitement. Jojo, with her vibrant, magnetic personality, had the whole getting-ready space filled with laughter. As a photographer specializing in North Idaho weddings, it was a joy to capture Jacob — sweet, grounded, and calm. He moved through the morning with a quiet joy that made everyone around him feel at ease.
Jojo and Jacob’s story isn’t your typical “we met on an app” tale — it goes way back. They first met when Jojo dated Jacob’s former stepbrother in high school. At the time, Jojo was in more of an “older sister” role, chatting with Jacob about philosophy, politics, and life when he started college. She always knew he was one of the kindest, most thoughtful people she’d ever met. However, life took them in different directions.
Years later, during COVID, they reconnected while both navigating breakups. It took Jojo a while to admit to herself she had a crush (“dated his stepbrother” is a hard mental hurdle!), but once they started dating, everything clicked instantly. They moved in together within a week and quickly realized they’d found their person. For anyone seeking insight from a wedding photographer in North Idaho, their story is a testament to the serendipity of love.
Jacob puts it perfectly:
“Every step felt easy. In the past, every step seemed like a lot of work — I think when you find your person, they make all the hard things easy.”
Choosing Camp Twinlow was more than a location decision — it was a nod to Jojo’s love for the Pacific Northwest and her family’s deep roots in North Idaho. She’d always dreamed of a camp-style wedding by the water. Having it in Rathdrum meant her grandparents and cousins (with all their little ones) could be there. It also made it possible for her Uncle to bring his legendary barbecue smoker, Bubba, all the way from Bonners Ferry.
The timing was special too — just weeks before Jacob begins medical school. It was the perfect in-between moment to gather everyone before life’s next big adventure. This moment was beautifully captured by a skilled photographer familiar with North Idaho weddings.
Jojo & Jacob’s day was brimming with intentional details:
And let’s not forget — Jojo’s cousin made the cake, complete with a sweet topper from Etsy’s JodieSimoneUK. It was a perfect touch reflecting the personalized flair often captured by talented photographers specializing in North Idaho weddings.
The ceremony overlooked the lake, with sunlight breaking through clouds and soft rain showers weaving in and out. This made the colors pop and added a little magic to every moment. The vows were full of emotion, humor, and heartfelt promises. As the day flowed into evening, guests enjoyed incredible barbecue, danced under a tent from Lake City Rentals, and partied to music from Ruby Frog Entertainment. For those seeking an enchanting experience, a photographer in North Idaho could capture moments like these with finesse.
The speeches were a highlight — filled with stories that had everyone laughing and tearing up. And once the dance floor opened, it stayed packed all night, rain or shine.
As a North Idaho wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to genuine moments — a quick squeeze of the hand, tears during vows, spontaneous bursts of laughter. Jojo & Jacob’s day was full of those. Their connection is magnetic, and their joy is contagious.
I left Camp Twinlow that night with damp hair, sore feet from dancing alongside them, and a full heart from witnessing a love story this beautiful.
Vendors Who Made It Happen:
If you’re dreaming of a lakefront celebration full of personal touches, heartfelt traditions, and joy that fills the air rain or shine, I’d love to be your North Idaho wedding photographer. Camp Twinlow in Rathdrum is pure magic — and your love story deserves to be captured in all its beauty.
