Throughout my 7 years as a Wedding Photographer I’ve learned a thing or two that I wish I would have known when I was planning my wedding. If you’d like to learn tips & tricks, see real weddings, and sessions then this blog is for you! I hope this can be a tool for all my couples and anyone searching for wedding inspiration.
There are some love stories that feel instantly like home, and that’s exactly how Rose & Josiah describe theirs. Their August wedding at The Barn at Rimrock, just north of Spokane, WA, was the perfect mix of rustic charm, natural beauty, and heartfelt personal touches.
Rose and Josiah first met on Instagram, and what started as a simple connection quickly grew into something that felt meant to be. Rose describes Josiah as her safe place—“the place you crave when you’re tired, sad, overwhelmed, and ready to just be yourself. Josiah is my home, and I’m his.”
On August 5th, 2023, Josiah planned a fishing trip along the Centennial Trail. Rose thought it was just another casual Saturday, but Josiah had something special in mind. After convincing her to go fishing instead of hiking, they found the perfect spot. When Rose’s line broke, Josiah asked her to reel in his. When she turned around, he was down on one knee with a ring. It was a complete surprise, and the sweetest beginning to their next chapter together.
Hidden in the woods of Clayton, WA—just 30 minutes north of Spokane—The Barn at Rimrock offers couples the chance to celebrate surrounded by ten acres of forest. The venue was built with love by its owners after their own engagement in 2020. With the help of family and friends, they constructed the barn on their property. They even incorporated wood salvaged from a family barn in Uniontown, WA, built in 1901.
The result is a space that blends rustic character with modern romance. Couples can say their vows beneath towering pines and celebrate under twinkle lights. They can also get ready in a newly finished suite designed for comfort and style. What makes The Barn at Rimrock especially unique is its flexibility. Only one wedding is booked per weekend, giving couples more time to bring their vision to life with vendors of their choice.
For couples who want a wedding venue that feels both personal and customizable, The Barn at Rimrock is a hidden gem in the Spokane wedding scene.
Rose & Josiah’s wedding day was a perfect reflection of who they are: casual, connected, and full of joy. The Barn at Rimrock gave them the ideal backdrop—rustic yet elegant, surrounded by the beauty of the outdoors.
Rose shared that the moment she was most looking forward to was Josiah seeing her for the first time walking down the aisle. It was as emotional as she imagined. Later in the night, laughter filled the barn as Rose’s bridesmaids surprised Josiah with pocket-sized boudoir photos—a playful, personal touch he never saw coming.
And perhaps the most meaningful part of their day? Including their sweet son Wesley in the photos. This addition made their wedding gallery a reflection not just of a couple in love, but of a family growing together.
When asked what advice they’d give, Rose & Josiah kept it simple: “Enjoy it, because it goes fast.”
Rose & Josiah’s Barn at Rimrock wedding was full of love, laughter, and family. From their heartfelt vows to the fun surprises at the reception, it was a day that perfectly showcased their story and their connection.
